Yorktowne is a fully integrated manufacturer of fine cabinetry. We start with green lumber and take it through to the finished product. 95% of cabinet manufacturers are really involved in assembly operations only and rely on other manufacturers for their component parts. Being fully integrated gives us a "leg up" on the competition in terms of enabling us to better control all phases of the manufacturing process and ensuring the production of finely crafted, quality cabinets.

Yorktowne has three manufacturing facilities at two locations. The facility in Red Lion, PA represents 250,000 square feet, and the two facilities in Mifflinburg, PA (90 miles north of Red Lion) represent 500,000 square feet – for a grand total of 3/4 million square feet of manufacturing space.

The process begins by purchasing green lumber from the mills. Green lumber has a moisture content of 80% and is placed in our pre-dryer and dried until the moisture content is down to 20%. The lumber is transferred to a kiln and dried to the desired moisture content of 6% and is ready for the machining process. The lumber goes through a series of rough dimensioning processes -- then proceeds to the molders, which cut random widths and lengths down to finer sizes. Yorktowne’s dimension mill manufactures all face frames, doors and drawer components with state-of-the-art woodworking machinery.

The other plant in Mifflinburg and the plant in Red Lion concentrate on fine milling, assembly and finish operations. After all finishing processes are completed, the cabinets are assembled, cartoned and shipped. The process usually takes about two to four weeks to build and deliver, depending upon your requests.
